David Finlay Pet Health Care Centres participated in the nationwide Pet Dental Smile Week. The event highlights the importance of cleaning our pet’s teeth. The horrific picture of advanced gum disease is a stark reminder that we all must endeavour to avoid this sort of thing happening to our pets. Visits to the dentist are a part of our own daily lives. Prevention is better than cure. No one likes to have to have a tooth extracted Massive improvements have come about in the past 20 years in regard to our own dental care. We need to make sure now that the same applies for our pets. After all they are a member of the family as well. A competition was organised by the practice to involve local primary school children. The theme was “keeping our pet’s teeth clean” and the children competed for the best drawing/painting in 2 age categories. All 4 local primary schools in Grangemouth participated and we had a tremendous response from children parents and teachers. The prize winners were awarded their certificates at an evening event held at the Grangemouth practice. Again this event received local press coverage and all the details were posted to our newly set up website. Marianne , our vet assistant and Emma Barratt our practice manager can take most credit for organising the event. We are very grateful for all the sponsorship we have received form Intervet our vaccine supplier , Novartis , manufacturer of the Program Plus range of products, and PetPlan the nation’s number one pet insurance company. The pictures tell the story
