David Finlay Pet Health Care Centres organised a dog walk in Muiravonside Country Park near Linlithgow. The walk was sponsored by Pedigree Pet foods, the leading pet food manufacturer, and Petplan, the nation’s number 1 pet insurance company.
The objective of the event was to highlight the importance of walking our dogs and keeping them and ourselves fit and healthy. Veterinary practices and animal welfare organisations nationwide took part , and our own practice event was reported in the local Falkirk Herald newspaper and the Veterinary Business Journal.
Months of organisation had gone into the day and in the end was rewarded by a massive turn out from the local pet owner public. The weather was lovely and fortunately stayed dry for the entire day. There were many attractions including exhibition stands, barbecue, tombola, bunny walk, face painting by Fiona Finlay the boss’s daughter. The Bouncy Castle, kindly provided by Snowie Ltd , a local waste disposal firm was a big hit with the kids!!
Leading the walk and the star of the parade was Jamie McBride, the springer spaniel. Jamie uses a K 9 cart to get around now He demonstrated just how nimble and quick he could be strapped into his cart and harness. Jamie had been paralysed as a result of a serious spinal injury, but since getting his cart has never looked back.
The pictures on the left tell the story.
Sponsorship for the event raised a massive £2,500 for local animal charities. Well done for all those who took part. !!
