In August 1997 the first ever plastic loyalty card was introduced to David Finlay Pet Heath Care Centres. The software for the card was developed by Databasics Ltd, our practice computer management system provider. Points were allocated for each pound spent in the practice, and the points could be redeemed against more purchases once a critical total spend by each client had accumulated
The card had an embedded electronic strip, which, when swiped through a special reader attached to the computer system, brought the customer details up immediately on the computer screen, saving time.
The system proved to be very popular with clients, and led to substantial increases in customer satisfaction, because we could supply more products than before. The loyalty card phenomenon always gave clients an incentive for shopping at David Finlay Pet Health Care Centres.
Unfortunately the loyalty scheme had to be abandoned when Databasics Ltd were taken over by a bigger software house who were not interested in continuing and developing the system.
We still have clients to this day who ask us about the Loyalty Card
