The new premises and equipment at the Stenhousemuir surgery meant that most operations now took place at this branch. David embarked upon a course of study in heart and chest medicine and surgery to sit the Certificate of Veterinary Cardiology in 1994. The pictures to the side show just a few of the scenes during this period. Many hours were spent working up and investigating complicated heart conditions. Photography played a big part in this as well. To gain the Cardiology Certificate at that time a total of 15 cases had to be written up and presented to the board of examiners before one could qualify to move on to the examination. Unfortunately pressure of work, and time, did not allow all this study to come to its final conclusion. However, much valuable experience and knowledge was gained during this period, giving David and the practice a much better chance of helping animals suffering from heart and chest disease.
