The original Veterinary Surgery was established by David Finlay in May 1984. The picture to the side shows the surgery frontage beside Hendersons the Butchers. The surgery premises had been trading most recently as a saddler, Beancross Saddlery, and before that as a hairdressing salon .The premises were damp and dingey, but with a bit of hard work were transformed into a very functional surgery within 4 weeks. We started trading on May 28th 1984 . I can still remember it well and we were very well patronised right from the first day of opening. A picture of the waiting room can be seen opposite, with Sandra Mcleary, our very first ever trainee vet nurse. Most of the action took place in a single small consulting/operating room .The pictures to the left show David attending to a dog and Margaret Mitchell holding a cat for Xray examination.
